For this assignment, we were asked to design a music store according to our genre and style.
My genre is dance pop.
The style that I had picked is deconstruction.

Brief description about deconstruction
Deconstruction is a continuation of an earlier architecture style - postmodernism. However, is stands in opposition to the limiting rules of modernism, Deconstruction in architecture rejects the rule of ornament as a side effect or na item of decoration. It was founded by Bernard Tschumi. The Deny of Everything even the orthogal geometry that was so obvious for the whole world now breaks down and is completely irrelevant.


My shop name is Decance.
The tagline is Bringing Out The Passion of Dance Pop In Everybody.

Interior Design Project I - Rhythm Wall

This is my rhythm wall. 

My music genre is dance pop. In dance pop , it is categorised into three sub-gente: Electro Pop, Funk Pop and Bubble Gum Pop.

For myself, I want to discovered more and want to try some genre that I'm unfamilir with, I chose funk pop. 

Funk pop is a music genre that originated in the mid to late 1960s. It's rhythmic, danceable nee form of music through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blue (R&B). It deemphasizes melody and harmony and brings a strong rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums to foreground.

To my understanding of funk pop after doing research, I came to understand about funk pop characteristics.

It's keywords are as above.

1. Upbeat 

2. Dense

3. Rhythmic 

4. Groove

5. Soul

Out of these five keywords, I chose dense as my keyword. The idea just came out of my mind after searching how funk can apply to wall decorations and things like that.

My idea was to section my rhythmic wall to 3 section and show out the density of the music. 

As shown on the picture above, that's how I section it. I didn't really section it very stiff. I create a naturally feeling showing from it is very dense to sparse. I used acrylic sticks and foam board to create the rhythm wall.

The acrylic sticks are placed overlapping each other. I did not randomly put the acrylic sticks. I put it how I planned. Although I did changed a bit, things go according to plan. I have my reasons of making the top more dense and the bottom more sparse. Funk pop music always begins with upbeat and very dense tone and it softens when ending. This is why I do it that way.

The top view of this wall can also see the density just like a the music. 

My rhythmic wall looks easy but it's not as easy as how people think. I went through trials and error a lot of times and redo twice. Wanting it to look like how I want it to be is not easy as it seems but I tried my best for it. 

Interior Design Project I - Infographic (Assignment 1)

Project 1 : Rhythm Wall 

[Exploration of Theme, Characteristic & Music Expression + Inspiration]

On the first day on class, we were briefed about the course outline and assignment 1. For this assignment, we were to form group through lucky draw. In groups, we are to do a through study of the background and a philosophy of the selected music genre.

For my group, we are doing dancing pop.

Firstly, we need to do a research. As a group leader, I assigned task to each of my group members and told them what to do. 

The next day we meet up and talked about our research. We discuss about our ideas and compile it together. After the tutorial class, we met up again all talk in details how we want our board to be.

For myself, I had done few costumes and helped out with the watercolour background. I also did research and did the dance pop title. Basically, we didn't assigned what we should do for each of us. All the works are divide equally among each other. We just helped each other out when we needed help.

For this assignment, we were divided into group of four as this is an group assignment. My groupmates are Chuah Tien Ling (Chloe), Imani and Wafaa. We were asked to make a model of house which consist of two floors. It is our first time to make a model of a house. For our group, we divided ourselves into two groups. Chuah Tien Ling and I are in charge of the ground floor while Wafaa and Imani are in charge of the first floor. The pictures above are our final outcome.
